Good News as IT job sector strengthens

growth in IT contracting positionsThe IT employment sector has strengthened in the past quarter with a lift in both contracting and permanent vacancies signalling an improving market, recent data shows.

The latest Peoplebank ICT Salary & Employment Index for May to July, released today, found in the major ICT markets demand had risen to the highest point in several years.

In NSW, job numbers grew by as much as 20 per cent over the last quarter and in the ACT, demand for ICT professionals was at its highest level for three years.

This is the year to become an independent IT contractor

Ever thought of becoming an Independent IT Contractor?

Contracting is no longer a last resort for technology pros, but a viable career path offering both financial and professional rewards.

A survey conducted by Mondo, a technology resourcing provider found that 48% of businesses plan to hire more independent IT contractors than full-time staff over the next 12 to 18 months, and 32% expect to increase their annual IT contractor budgets over the same period.

Good news for IT Contractors as Australian IT hiring turns to Contractors

With IT seeping into all areas of the business, and working on a project basis, the hiring of IT contractors has become a more popular trend in Australia, the latest edition of Hudson’s Employment Trends report says.

Surveying 2,887 Australian employers about their hiring intentions, the report found that 29.4% of respondents intended to hire contract IT staff, with the intention to hire permanent IT staff falling 3.6% from the last report to 25.2%.  Indicating that IT contractors have more chance of getting a job than someone seeking a permanent tech role.
